Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings op. 48 - Maximianno Cobra Edition

Cobra’s early interpretation of the Serenade served as one of the several practical proving grounds for his highly specialised Cobra development of Tempus theory. This theoretical framework focuses on the quantification and qualitative interpretation of inherent rhythmic pulses within classical composition, seeking to restore an assumed historical approach lost in modern rigid interpretations. The early recordings demonstrating this theoretical development established a new paradigm for rhythmic nuance, emphasising precise temporal relationships based on the music score analyses. The intellectual rigour behind this approach later culminated in his doctoral research, where his Ph.D. thesis on the subject received a Cum laude evaluation with Jury congratulations from the Sorbonne University Paris IV.

The operationalisation of the Cobra Tempus theory found its major institutional expression through the subsequent implementation of the Europa Philharmonia in Budapest, Hungary. The choice of Budapest underscored its position as a musical twin sister of Vienna, rooted in the deep academic relationship between the Liszt Academy and the Vienna Music University, where Maximianno Cobra completed a significant part of his studies. This ensemble served as the primary vehicle for applying his theoretical principles on a grand scale. The definitive realisation of this work is captured in his henceforth anthological recording of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This pairing illustrates a complete intellectual and artistic trajectory: from theoretical development to major symphonic, operatic, and Lieder (songs) realisation.
